Guys & Glaciers Teachers and Workshops

Our journey to Cuba and the Caribbean has been planned for fun at sea, in port and in the classroom. Our teachers have not only been selected for their expertise, but for their outgoing and sharing personalities.  You'll have to agree that we have assembled an incredible teaching staff for this adventure!!  There will be four 6 hour workshop days (or combination thereof) each offering a wide variety of techniques and project choices.  You may take  a class each time they are offered.  Liza Prior Lucy is offering one - 4 day class while Stevii Graves and Laura Heine are each offering two - 2 day classes.

All of the teachers are working hard to complete projects just for our cruise - so your patience in waiting to see pictures is appreciated, but know, just as the repuation of these teachers, the projects will be fabulous.

So that everyone has an equal opportunity to register, class choice sheets will be sent out about 2 months prior to the cruise.  If you have a  question about a class or project, please contact the teacher at the email address provided with their bio.

See you in Fort Lauderdale!!

LAURA HEINE

I began quilting over 30 years ago.  The journey of quilting led to opening Fiberworks, my quilt shop in Billings Montana, designing over 50 different lines of fabrics, my own collection of threads, and my current obsession, making collage quilts!  My work has been published in many magazines and my book Color Fusion…Fiberworks by Laura Heine, written in 2004 is a book of my personal journey!  I have won many awards, with the most prestigious being the $10,000.00 Bernina Award for Best Machine Workmanship from American Quilters Society. Many of my quilts have been featured in ads and brochures.  My collage quilts showcase fused applique, cut flower motifs and a impressionistic way of using color and value to create one-of-a-kind quilts using fabric as my palette. My latest line of fabric “The Dress” with FreeSpirit Fabrics will be available in December 2017. Visit my shop at www.fiberworks-heine.com.

LIZA PRIOR LUCY

Liza made her first "quilt" in 1972 when she sewed 25 bandanas together, layered the top with a fat batt and a corduroy backing and tied it all together with wool knitting yarn. It was for her college boyfriend's waterbed.  She made her second quilt in 1990, this time in a more conventional manner, piecing a sampler block quilt. Quilting became a passion and in 1993 she proposed doing a book with her dear friend, Kaffe Fassett.

Kaffe and Liza work closely together writing patchwork books and developing the Kaffe Fassett Collective fabric line for Free Spirit.

Their first hardcover book was Glorious Patchwork and they just published their 6th hardcover book, Bold Blooms.  They specialize in re-interpreting traditional quilt patterns using contemporary fabrics and unexpected color combinations.

From the time she began making quilts, her favorite projects have been those that are hand sewn.  English Paper Piecing is her passion.  She designed the popular Glorious Hexagon sampler based on the book, The New Hexagon. Last count over 5000 people worldwide are following her lead and making their own glorious version!

Liza lives in New Hope, Pennsylvania with her husband, Drew.
