This is your invitation to a spectacular opportunity to attend the 2008 International Quilt Festival® in Houston, Texas followed by a relaxing seven-day Caribbean cruise loaded with quilt related fun. Our tour is scheduled to begin in plenty of time to take advantage of Festival’s early-bird classes (optional) and allow you the option to attend the grand-prize winner announcement on Preview Night. Our 4êhotel is the Hilton America’s Houston which is the only hotel connected to the George Brown Convention Center and less than a 5 minute walk to one of the best quilt shows and exhibits in the United States. These quilted textile exhibits are among the finest anywhere and with vendors from the world over, you will easily see why this is known as the “International Quilt Festival®”. Our time here will include 5 nights deluxe accommodations, a get acquainted dinner “Texas Style”, a multi-day pass to the Festival, a special lecture by Texas' own Marcia Kaylackie, author of Texas Quilts and Quilters: A Lone Star Legacy; plus plenty of time for optional classes, enjoying the show and exploring the Houston area. Following our 5 days in Houston, we will be met by our deluxe motorcoach for a short ride to Galveston, TX to depart on our 7 day Caribbean Quilting Cruise with teachers Julie Wallace (Australia) and Lisa Erlandson (Texas). Each will have a fun and original quilting project that will blow your thimbles right off your thumbs! The cruise begins on Sunday, November 2 and we will be heading into the sunset onboard the Carnival Conquest® sailing the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean for seven incredible days. Our cruise will include some wonderful time to enjoy the restful seas and quilting classes and make stops in: Montego Bay, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. What better way is there to unwind from the days at Festival than enjoying the company of your quilting friends on this special cruise adventure? Itinerary: êOctober 28: Arrive Hilton America's Houston, we will meet for a get acquainted Texas-style Dinner. êOctober 29-November 2: The days are yours to enjoy as you please. You will have a multi-day pass to attend the show allowing you the time you need to see the exhibits, shop the vendors, take any of the multitude of classes offered (optionally, see sign up information below). On the afternoon of November 1, we will be gathering for last-minute cruise details and lecture on Texas Quilts by author Marcia Kaylackie. êNovember 2: After breakfast the morning is at leisure. Our deluxe motorcoach will pick us up at 11:00 for the drive to our cruise departure port in Galveston. On arrival, we will check in and board our home for the next 7 days, the Carnival Conquest. Food and beverage will be available from arrival onward. êNovember 3&4: These days will be spent at sea. You will have plenty to do onboard with the many activities offered by Carnival, including their incredible spa, take in the quilting class and more. êNovember 5: The day is yours to enjoy Montego Bay, Jamaica as you please. Known as the Island's friendliest city, Montego Bay offers the best of the Caribbean, including beautiful Georgian architecture in the historic town of Falmouth and incredible white sand beaches. êNovember 6: We are in Grand Cayman today with incredible opportunities to shop, relax on the famous seven-mile beach, or take in one of the optional tours offered by Carnival. êNovember 7: Cozumel, our stop today is famous the world over for it's tranquil and beautiful waters. There are a number of seaside activities available, and the marketplace is particularly colorful with wonderful open-air cafés. êNovember 8: A day to relax after fun-filled days in beautiful tropical ports. Be sure to drop by our quilting class and enjoy a tropical drink poolside. êNovember 9: Our journey ends with disembarkation in Galveston. We will undoubtedly return home with many fond memories of our time together. Transportation will be provided for those who are heading to Houston's Intercontinental Airport.
