If you you’d rather see more Bali you may take in our optional tour that will go to the original village in Bali at Tenganan.  Here, time has almost stopped from when the village was founded centuries ago.  Read more about the tour below. Following our morning of designing and dyeing, we will have an enjoyable lunch in the capital city of Denpasar followed by what everyone waits for…BATIK SHOPPING. As of this writing, contemporary (American) batik styles are between $2.50 and $3.00 a meter. It can’t get much better than that! Remember, you can bring back 100# of luggage on your international flight.

SO, we have decided to devote our time today to the two most popular side trips our visitors have participated in over the years. It is up to you to choose which of the following you would like to do, and we will take care of the rest! If you choose to relax and do your own thing, that is fine too!

For those that wish to participate we have arranged either an Indulgent Balinese Spa Treatment or a Balinese Cooking Class and the choice is yours! You should still have time in the afternoon to enjoy the pool or the village as you wish. B

Day 8 – May 20: Following breakfast, we will visit the private facility where Hoffman California International Fabrics has their batik lines printed and processed. This will be a full morning with much of the time spent outdoors where the fabrics are printed, dyed and dried. Our hosts hold nothing back in showing us the age old processes necessary to make the batiks from this company what they are best known for, incomparable beauty. Not one machine is used in the process – it is all hand done. Not only will you walk away with a different appreciation for batiks, but when you learn more about little known company traditions and their generosity toward the people of Bali and consideration for the Balinese environment, you will walk away having more appreciation for Hoffman as well as their beautiful fabrics. Before heading back to our hotel, we will have lunch at a lovely ocean-side restaurant where you will also be given time for enjoying the beach and swimming. For anyone wishing to shop a traditional art market is nearby.  On our way back to the hotel, we will stop at the Ubud Monkey Forest for those wishing to enjoy this area with the guide. B, L
