Each year, the Houston International Quilt Festival gets bigger and better and this year promises to be as exciting as ever as the city rolls out the red carpet to quilt enthusiasts.

It has been said that visiting the Houston International Quilt Festival is like visiting an art museum. Each year, quilters from around the world have the opportunity to display their quilts and the final juried pieces are both unique and beautiful.  We have added this exceptional tour at the request of our international friends in Canada, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, Australia. the United Kingdom, and others; but we are happy for anyone to join us, no matter where you live.

Our hotel rooms are at the beautiful and convenient convention center hotel, the Hilton America's Houston, making it easy and quick for you to go to the show, attend classes and participate in all of the Quilts Inc. and IQA activities without the need of transportation or the hassle of waiting for a show shuttle.  Prior to the show we will enjoy the Texas quilt museum, quilt shop stops, a special tour of the seaside town of Galveston including a mansion in their historic district, as well as additional activities.   You may also attend the Gala grand opening night of the show and you will have plenty of free time to participate in one of the many workshops and lectures offered.

November 6 Texas Quilt Museum and Quilter's Emporium Quilt Shop. This morning we are off for a morning visit at the Texas Quilt Museum, here will will have time to enjoy their current exhibit and explore the Texas town of La Grange.  Following lunch, we will depart for time at a local shop before returning to the hotel.

As your evening is free, you may wish to attend the special event announcing the IQA show winners at the convention center.  B

November 7 – Quilter's Tour of Galveston

This morning we will gather for a short ride to Galveston.  During our time here we will enjoy a tour of Galveston's historic mansion area which will include a mansion tour in the Palace District. You will also be able to wander the famous Galveston Strand and enjoy the ambience of this historic area before we return to Houston, enjoying some quilt shop stops on the way.  We've some fun surprises planned along our way as we return to Houston. 11/6 - 11/11  – Quilt Festival

November 8 - you will be free to participate in Festival classes and workshops.  However, this evening, you will have priority tickets to the 7 PM Gala Opening of the show.  It is the best time to see the show and enjoy the vendors as the crowds are always light on opening night. B

November 7-11: While it will be easy to get caught up among the multitude of vendors or engaged in looking at the amazing quilts that are juried into this show, you might also wish to consider the multitude of other activities that make up the quilt festival.  Take a close look at the workshops offered and/or the various speakers and activities.  This is a wonderful opportunity to take a class with one or more world class teachers.  And even if you don’t want to spend a day in a workshop, you can hear some of the teachers at lunchtime or evening lectures.  Check the festival brochure for these opportunities. B

November 11:  Our final day in Houston, we will meet for breakfast together before your check out from the hotel and transfer to the airport.  You may store your luggage at the hotel if you wish to participate in last minute shopping or workshops. B

We are not able to provide information about Quilt Festival workshops or classes.  However, it is available from Quilts Inc.  Please go to www.quilts.com at any time to get on the mailing lists for the festival schedule.  There is a slight charge for the mailed catalog, however, class catalogs are posted online at the same time the printed catalog is released.  Note:  The Festival brochure with the list of classes will not be available until mid-July, 2018.  After this time class information will be available at the quilts.com website.
