"Thank you Deb for providing the perfect tour.  While other tours I looked into were less costly, I went with you for the reputation of your company and found that dollar for dollar the value of this tour was far better than I had anticipated."

"...I was more than thrilled at your tour itself, everything was first class, organized well and went way beyond my expectations. So many of us in the group will remain life long friends.  I will be going with you again."

Itinerary

September 15, 2018 -  WE ARE OFF TO ICELAND!  We welcome travelers from all over the world, however, if departing from the USA, most flights are overnight. Our exclusive "Free to Fly" program allows you to depart from the city of your choice, using mileage plans or points if you prefer, and you do not have the hassle of having to meet up with a group at an appointed airport.  You may leave from where you want and when you want.   We welcome guests from all over the world and our "Free to Fly" program makes it simple for everyone. If departing from the USA dinner should be served on your flight with a light breakfast before arrival in the morning. D/B

Day 1 - September 16, 2018: After arrival and customs clearance you will transfer independently to our hotel in Reykjavik center near the Marina.  You will have the remainder of the day to rest and explore the city before our welcome dinner together at 6PM. D

Day 2 - September 17, 2018: Blönduós Textile Museum. During this day the main agenda is visiting Blönduós Textile Museum, in this small costal town in North Iceland you can find Iceland’s only textile museum. The Textile Museum in Blönduós exhibits a unique collection of homemade wool and textile items. It also exhibits beautiful Icelandic national costumes and artistic embroideries along with many of the tools and equipment’s used to produce them. It is the only one of its kind in Iceland and was founded by the Women’s Union in East Húnavatnssýsla. This day requires about 6.5 hours of driving but along the way the guide will give you a good insight of Iceland’s nature and saga and no time will wasted. B, L

Day 3 - September 18, 2018:  Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik Quilt Shops and Grandi Old Harbor.  Today, we drive to the well-known Blue Lagoon for a soothing and relaxing bath. We will also head out with bus and our guide to visit the best quilt and textile stores Reykjavik has to offer. Afterwards the group will be dropped to the Old Harbor of Grandi where there is a selection of designers, restaurants and museums that can be visited. The guide will be within reach to give out hints and tricks where to find these lesser known parts of Reykjavik design culture. But the guide will leave the group out for their own exploration for what is left of the day and group finds their own way back to hotel. Good idea would be to enjoy a nice dinner at one of many restaurants at the Old Harbor before finding back their way to the hotel. In the evening the group will be picked up from the hotel for a northern lights private hunt. The guide will make the decision about where to go and how long, since the northern lights are a natural phenomenal and difficult to control.  PLEASE NOTE: This tour is subject to weather conditions. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. B

Day 4 - September 19, 2018: Journey into the Glacier. Today's adventure starts with a drive through Borgarfjordur to the edge of Langjokull glacier. We will drive to Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring area in Europe, and Hraunfossar waterfalls, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 meters out of a lava field. When we reach Langjokull glacier, it's time to board an 8-wheel glacier truck that will take you on an adventurous journey to the entrance of the ice cave. During the excursion within the glacier itself you'll see colors of blue you never knew existed, and learn how glaciers hide the secrets of history. After an approximately 50-minute visit within the glacier, it's time to head to our hotel in Reykjavik. B, L

Day 5 - September 20, 2018:  Golden Circle.  Today we start by driving over Mosfellsheidi plateau towards the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, where we'll encounter amazing scenery. Thingvellir is a remarkable geological site and the most historic site on the island. The world's oldest democratic parliament was founded here in 930. Thingvellir, is now a national park and has been a World Heritage Site since 2004. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth ’s tectonic plates. The area’s combination of natural phenomena and historical significance make it inseparable from the fabric of Icelandic national life. After Thingvellir we drive to Geysir hot spring area – We will discover Geysir which has given its name to hot springs all over the world. We will see one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouting up to 30 meters in the air. We continue to Gullfoss - (Golden Waterfall), one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe. Here you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down into a deep gorge. From Gullfoss the tour will take you to Urriðafoss Waterfall and afterwards a check-in at a hotel in one of Iceland´s most scenic areas.  Hopefully our sleep will be interrupted by the illusive northern lights. (B/D)

Day 6 - September 21, 2018:  South Coast Adventure. Our first stop is at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss. This powerful waterfall cascades into a pretty meadow but is best known for the walking path that runs behind the curtain of water where visitors can enjoy a truly unique viewpoint from this angle. We continue to Skogafoss waterfall. Standing at 60 meters (197 ft) tall, the heavy veil of water is impressive and walking close enough envelops visitors in a cloud of spray, sound and refracted light. After the Skogafoss we visit the Skogar Museum. The regional folk museum at Skogar is well known throughout Iceland for being the best of its kind with a collection of artifacts from local curator Thordur Tomasson. The unique collection of mementos of this region’s past is housed in beautifully preserved old turf-roofed houses known as Byggdarsafnid  Skogar. From there we drive to the village of Vik í Myrdal. After the lunch we drive to Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara. It is a nature reserve where thousands of puffins nest during the summer. The nature is our playground and at Reynisfjara beach, nature has built these remarkable columnar of basalt. Fun to climb in and enjoy the nature! From Reynisfjara we will return to our hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 7 - September 22, 2018:  Return To Reykjavik.  Enjoy a free day browsing all the good museums, gallery’s, restaurants and other activity Reykjavik has to offer. (B)

Day 8 - September 23, 2018: Departure. Please plan your independent airport transfer from the hotel to arrive at the airport no later than 3 hours before your scheduled departure
