Why Travel with Us

It’s a unique way to travel:

Deb has meticulously designed each quilt or textile inspired tour as if planning it for herself in a way that will encourage you to step off the beaten path and, if you choose, immerse yourself in the community that you are visiting. Her goal is to bring you up close and personal to new cultures and the local quilt or textile heritage. If you’re on a cruise, we often provide you with the option of choosing from custom textile or quilt-themed shore excursions that will enhance your overall journey.

There is plenty of time for independence and flexibility:

Each trip is planned to offer you a wonderful blend of sightseeing, hands on experiences and cultural exposure; but, also provides plenty of time and guidance for you to explore on your own, seeing and doing the things that are most important to you.

Cruise Accommodations:

We choose from the safest, highly regarded and
popular cruise lines for our group cruises. From here you can choose your own category and you will always receive the ‘best available’ cabin in that category choice, with a possibility for a complimentary upgrade.

Land Tour Accommodations:

From 5-star city center hotels to country villas, as applicable to where we are visiting, we provide you with the most authentic experience possible. We hope to always reflect the local character of where we visit – without sacrificing comfort or security.

Comfort and Security:

Deb takes every precaution and goes the extra mile to
ensure that your accommodations are central, quiet, clean and secure.

On trains, travel is first class and our motor coaches are always deluxe.

Hands on experiences and learning activities:

One of the things that sets World of Quilts Travel apart from the others is that, due to her many years in the quilting industry, Deb has made connections that enable her to open doors to museum archives and facilities that are rarely open to the public. Because she herself is a quilt lover and textile enthusiast, she closely relates to like-minded aficionados.

Depending on the trip you choose, Deb has found that talking with and learning from the locals is one of the true highlights for her clients. Whether it is enjoying high tea with a community quilt guild in England or trying your hand at traditional crafts in Bali – the emphasis is on learning from those in the community. Whenever possible we steer away from tourist workshops and factories; instead, we visit with local artisans.

Expert Local Guides:

Deb interviews and hires only expert guides who have a demonstrated interest in textiles or quilts. Additionally, we work hand in hand with the best tour suppliers in the destinations we travel to, ensuring that every need is taken care of.

Small groups:

In general, on our land tours, it is NOT our goal is not to fill a 50+ seat bus. We like to limit our group size to 25 guests so that the group is small and intimate. We have had travelers who never knew each other later become the closest of friends-meeting each year, reunion style, to continue their traveling journey together. On cruises, class sizes are limited so that teachers may give personalized attention.

Roommate OR Private Room:

Sometimes, it is more economical for one to travel with a partner to save costs. For those who do not have a companion, we have a roommate matching policy to help you find someone suitable to share your room. However, sometimes it is more convenient to have your own room, so we always offer either option.

Our Goal:

Is to provide you with an unparalleled experience with unmatched service at an incredible value.
Deb is always available to each traveler and assures that all inquiries will be answered in a timely manner.

In addition, Deb believes than an amazing travel experience does not need to break the bank and she
continually endeavors to offer the most competitive pricing and value.
