A Perfect Getaway for Embroidery Enthusiasts: Join Sue Spargo in Belfast

From August 31 to September 2, 2025, internationally celebrated embroidery artist and master hand-stitcher Sue Spargo will lead her very first workshop in Northern Ireland—and you’re invited to be part of it.

Known for her richly layered wool appliqué, bold use of color, and stunningly intricate embellishment stitches, Sue has inspired a global community of quilters, stitchers, and textile artists. Her work blends folk-art tradition with modern creativity, and her teaching is both warm and empowering—making advanced techniques feel approachable and exciting for all skill levels.

Set in the vibrant city of Belfast, this three-day retreat offers hands-on instruction with Sue, as she teaches a special project selected just for our group. Each day, you’ll explore her signature techniques, from textured layering to expressive hand embroidery, and leave with fresh skills and inspiration that only in-person instruction can provide.

Our home for the retreat is the elegant Europa Hotel, a four-star landmark located in the heart of the city. You’ll enjoy a beautifully appointed executive room for three nights, daily hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches, and a warm, welcoming environment perfect for stitching and connection. A celebratory farewell dinner is included on the final evening, capping off the experience with good food and new friendships.

August 31:  9:30 Morning arrival, check in and welcome.  Workshop begins at 10AM, will end at 5PM, lunch is included in the day.  ** Those checking in on August 31 will check into the hotel after the workshop day.  You may bring your luggage with you to the workshop or leave it at the front desk.

September 1: Workshop continues, 9AM-4PM with lunch break.  Breakfast is also included in the day.

September 2: Workshop continues, 9AM-4PM with lunch break and farewell dinner. Breakfast is also included in the day.

September 3: Hotel check out. Breakfast is also included in the day.
